If you have followed Florida Mixed Martial Arts, there will be many familiar faces on the latest season of the UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter.
The program airs April 22 on Fox Sports 1 at 10 p.m. and will continue to air 11 one-hour episodes. This season is different from the past as it will feature the team vs team format. The Blackzilians will face off against American Top Team with the winner taking a trophy and $500,000. Only 13 miles separates both camps.
The Roman Show caught up with Brazilian fighter Vicente Luque (7-4-1) who will be part of the show and represents the Blackzilians.
Hear the interview, below.
“I have seen many Ultimate Fighters,” he said. “I saw the ones in Brazil. When they told me I was going to be part of the show I thought it was interesting. I think it will be one of the best because when you have two teams they will give it their all.”
Many familiar faces like Jason Jackson (4-2), Valdir Araujo (14-5), Marcelo Alfaya (16-7), Hayder Hassan have all fought for local promotions like Fight Time Promotions and the now defunct CFA.
Luque started combat sports because it runs in the family. His mother has a black belt in karate. He started to train Muay Thai at 5 and later started to incorporate other forms of martial arts.
Luque invites viewers for an interesting season.
“Expect something different this season,” he said.
