Sleep Waker’s drummer Frankie said fans can hear news sounds in the band’s new album, Alias.
On July 23, the band drops the album following the groups first full-length release, 2018’s Don’t Look at the Moon and their 2017 EP, Lost in Dreams.
Listen closely, because the band experimented with new sounds Frankie told The Roman Show this week.
NEW SOUNDS
“It was a cool experiment to see how we can write as a team. I liked this album and stoked to put it out,” he said.
Moreover, he added,” We did somethings we have never done as a band. There are some weird things we did like I guess not too new I watched on how they do the sounds for the Transformers.”
He later added, “They did it by taking guitars and taking pick scrapes across them. We incorporated that we did it in one song that is super long. It ended up sounding like someone screaming.”
Tracks like Distance and 110 Minutes have already dropped.
INSPIRATION
Facing sleep paralysis and insomnia, the band took their challenges and were inspired by their battles.
Sci-fi moves such as The Matrix, Lynch’s Twin Peaks series and Japanese sci-fi anime series Cowboy Bebop inspire the band.
“In our live set we have been working on interludes that there is constant sound going on. As we have been working we have been creating the sound track to blade runner or interstellar. I am loving that inspiration. It puts you into those worlds.”
Alias is about defining what humanity is.
“It is an identity based how we are supposed to define humanity,” he said. “Obviously alias is meant to be as to how you want to be perceived as.”
