At times a little fun could lead to danger. Thus the case for young Aimee Copeland, 24, who zip lined over the Little Tallapoosa River in Georgia.
An accident caused the University of West Georgia to fall and opened up a gash, which took 20 staples to close, but a rare flesh-eating bacteria nearly took her life.
Copeland now lies in a hospital bed recovering, but she already lost a one of her legs and may require the amputation of her fingers. The infection is a known as Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria.
Currently, doctors are waiting for her to breathe on her own as thankfully her condition is improving.
This summer make sure to protect yourself whether at the beach or lake. Read up on proper protection to avert any tragedies. Surely, this was a rarity, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
