The words health and fast food don’t seem to match, but newly opened restaurant PDQ has made something impossible possible.
The Tampa based PDQ has opened its doors in Miami, 10121 West Flagler Street, offering fresh and healthy meals to its patrons.
We sat down with operating director Michael Clemens who shared the 4-1-1 on the hottest and newest eatery to hit Miami.
What sets your food apart from the other restaurants?
PDQ is known for fresh hand-breaded chicken tenders but our commitment to quality fresh food doesn’t stop there. We pride ourselves on delicious sandwiches and salads made with the finest ingredients and our signature sauces and dressings are homemade every day. Our fries are fresh-cut right in the restaurant, while hand-spun milkshakes round out the perfect meal. All menu items are made to order, including fresh, never frozen, chicken. We believe fresh high-quality food can be served fast, at a price you’ll love.
What would you tell to customers who haven’t tried it and have tried it?
When you walk into PDQ and you understand what fresh means. You are able to watch our Team Members preparing your food, making fresh squeezed lemonade, and even making our hand-cut french fries. We were founded on a concept that high-quality food, memorable service and genuine hospitality are the basis of an excellent restaurant.
If you have already tried our food, you may think that our menu is limited. Our menu merely serves as a guideline as all our menu items are customizable. Our Team Member favorites include BBQ chicken crispy chicken sandwich, Creamy Garlic Salads, Buffalo Chicken Tenders and dipped in ranch, as well as Grilled Chicken Sandwich wrapped in lettuce (a very healthy option!). Ask a Team Member for their favorite!
Tell me about one of the best dishes you have?
Our Spicy Buffalo Sandwich takes two of our famous hand-breaded chicken tenders, we then toss those in our famous buffalo bleu cheese sauce, put them on a toasted egg bun (special recipe from our baker) and add placed atop a fresh cut lettuce crown. The spice from our buffalo sauce gets balanced out with creaminess of our fresh bleu cheese to create a unique flavor. Combine that with the cool, crisp lettuce and you have a sandwich that you will not stop thinking about. Feel free to add cheese (free of charge!) for even more explosion.
Can you just tell me a little bit about the franchise and how come you guys decided to come to Miami?
Our franchise is operated by one of the Co-founders of Outback Steakhouse and the creator of the famous Bloomin’ Onion, Tim Gannon. We opened our first restaurant in Tampa in October of 2011 and already have grown to over 35 restaurants across Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Texas. Miami has been known to bring culinary minds from around the globe and to have some of the best restaurants in the country. PDQ provides the consumer a faster, more affordable approach to dining out without sacrificing quality or hospitality. If you are in a hurry, no problem, our drive thru is perfect for you and you never have to worry about tipping at PDQ!
