“Hecho en Mexico” Escudero solidified his name on the small screen by
winning the promotion’s reality show, The Ultimate Fighter. He will
face-off against good friend and fellow TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum.
Flash-forward a few years later, Escudero is making his way back on
the show as a coach. He spoke to The Roman Show in an exclusive
interview.
Hear it below.
“I didn’t believe it. I was like I can’t believe it,” he said. “When
UFC president Dana White called me that’s when it hit me.”
Escudero will be appearing on the Ultimate Fighter Latin America
season 2, which airs on UFC Fight Pass starting next month.
“I believe I can helpout for a country that has been known for boxing,
I can teach these guys,” he said. “I want to cover their nutrition. I
want to make sure they are good in training. These are things I didn’t
know when I was on the show.”
Escudero recently made his third appearance with the promotion. He has
fought all over the world including in twice in Miami against South
Florida fighters Luis Palomino and Mike Rio. Escudero won both fights.
He said he did keep an eye on the first season, which featured UFC
heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and interim UFC heavyweight
champion Fabricio Werdum.
He also also excited to coach against his good friend, Gastelum.
“Kelvin and I are good friends,” he said. “We graduated from the same
high school.”
