UFC Fighter Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is just a fight away from competing for the light heavyweight title of the, but he faces an opponent who thinks that he deserves it more.
Johnson fights against Ryan Bader are the main event for UFC on Fox 18 at 8 p.m. on the Fox network this Saturday.
Bader is unbeaten in his last five fights. His last fight was against Rashad Evans in October where Bader won by unanimous decision. The Arizona Sun devil wrestler campaigned for a title shot, but Johnson disagrees with him being next in line.
“He is a strong opponent,” Johnson said. “I want to fight the best. I wanted this fight because he believes he deserves an opportunity at the title. I respect it and understand it. But I think that as a fighter just because you defeated a fighter who was out of action for a year does not mean that you automatically have to fight for the title.”
Bader defeated Evans, who returned to the octagon after being away for more than a year. Phil Davis, Ovince St. Preux and others more were part of Bader’s recent victories.
“When you work hard you, you deserve that opportunity “he said.” “I understand it but because you defeat someone who has been out of action for more than year doesn’t not give a shot at the title.”
